Ionware can complete a custom development based on PalmOS or PocketPC PDA technology for your organization. We have several approaches to accomplish our development efforts including:

  • Traditional Consulting Engagements

  • Traditional Fee-for-Service Enagements

  • Partnership Arrangements

  • Third-Party Product arrangements

  • Product Development

  • Product Royalty Arrangements

  • Sub-Contracting Arrangements

  • Technology Leasing Arrangements

Our expertise in all aspects of PDA development, application development and systems integration allows us to complete a large array of services for our customers and clients.

Data Capture Projects

Most traditional paper based systems can be replaced with a pen based computer system such as the Palm Pilot and similar devices. Typical applications: paperless forms, inspections, product delivery, shipping data capture. Data captured is hotsynced back to desktop system.

Data Reference Projects

Many traditional lists, databases or database subsets can be extracted from a large datastore to populate a handheld device. Typical applications include references for inventory, specific inventory, attendees, available lots, etc.

Desktop Extension Projects

Extensions to existing systems and legacy systems can be built to provide two way synchronization between desktop and PDA. Typical applications include order entry and registration systems.

PDA Projects with Desktop Applications

Some applications can be solely based on the PDA use and do not require full desktop applications. However, the desktop is used as a helper to control which data is downloaded to the PDA. Typical applications include route collections, route delivery, route reading, etc. The key to identifying this style of development is a desktop which controls which PDA has data "checked out" and therefore controls when and if a PDA can download datasets.

Conduit Development

Conduits are integral to downloading and uploading data to and from host data sources. Our staff develops all conduits using low level sync classes using C++.

Projects using Hardware Peripherals

Projects can be augmented with the use of customized and specialty hardware. Hardware integration can includes printers, barcode scanners, keyboards, serial programming cables, scientific instrumentation and scientific/engineering monitoring devices.

SQL Integration

Our foremost expertise lies in integrating SQL databases with PDA databases. We support databases such as Microsoft SQL, Oracle and MySQL.

Legacy Integration

Applications operating on Unix, Linux, AS/400, SUN Solaris systems can be integrated with PDA projects using ODBC and using SQL clients.
